My name is Alexander James, I am a recent graduate from the University of Sheffield where I studied Education, Culture and Childhood BA. From my degree, I am very keenly interested in how children learn, child and educational psychology, as well as models of schools and educational institutions.
I am currently looking for work in Outreach and Widening Participation, or similar areas such as student recruitment and events management in educational settings. For the future, I am considering either gaining a teaching qualification to work with young children, or returning to university to pursue more study in educational studies, probably around educational psychology.
Past this, I am a devoted Scout Leader with my local troop. I have been in the role for around 7 years now and wouldn’t want to drop it for anything in the world. I have made more life-long friends in Scouting than I probably did through my time in formal education. My role is specifically for the Beaver section (6-8yrs), but I currently volunteer with all three groups within my troop.
The rest of my time is split between streaming video games (poorly) on Twitch.tv for strangers over the internet, reading and writing and slowly learning about Buddhism for myself.
This blog was originally to help me better digest what I had been learning at university. But it slowly came to include my ramblings about life, video games, and the very occasional hint of fictional creative writing.
Now I am done with university, there will be more of a focus on the writing and life stuff. I have always wanted to spend time learning and practicing creative writing but never jumped into it, so I will apologise now for how bad a lot of what I write will be!
Other than that, I try to be an open book whenever possible. Please feel free to drop me an email or message over Twitter if you want to get in touch!
Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy the site!
